في نهاية السنة الماضية، كنت في أحد اجتماعات فريق تسويق المنتجات في Google كنا نتحدث عن أن نسبة كبيرة من مستخدمي الإنترنت في العالم العربي هم من صغار السن وحينها طرحت زميلتنا مايا مديرة تسويق منتجات Google, فكرة رائعة لإطلاق مبادرة تعليمية للمبتدئين في عالم الإنترنت لتساعدهم للتعرف على منتجات Google بشكل أفضل، وبما أن النسبة الأكبر من المبتدئين في سن صغيرة فأفضل وسيلة لمخاطبتهم ستكون حلقات رسوم كرتونية .
وهكذا بدأنا بمناقشة هذه الفكرة بمختلف جوانبها، فتحمست للفكرة، لأنني أعتقد أن لها الأثر الأكبر في مساعدة وتوعية المستخدمين الجدد وإرشادهم، وبدأت تنفيذها بدعم من الفريق وشركة عربية متخصصة في الرسوم الكارتونية، وخلال الفترة الماضية بدأ فريق العمل بوضع الخطط والتصور لهذه العائلة، ومناقشة جميع التفاصيل التي يمكن طرحها، والاستمتاع حتى في اختيار التفاصيل الدقيقة مثل أسماء الشخصيات، أو اختيار ما هي المواضيع التي تهم المستخدم الجديد, وبعد أشهر من العمل، يسعدني أن أقدم لكم عائلة أهلا أونلاين :
أهلا أونلاين، هو مصدر تعليمي سهل للمستخدمين الجدد لعالم منتجات ،Google ومن خلال سلسلة أفلام قصيرة مع أصدقائنا مفيد وماهر وبسمة والجد حكيم سنأخذكم في سلسلة من الجولات للتعرف على المبادىء الأساسية في استخدام الإنترنت بمساعدة منتجات Google بالإضافة إلى ذلك سيوفر الموقع معلومات تفصيلية عن كل موضوع مع روابط مفيدة للمزيد من المعلومات.
ولقد بدأت عائلة أهلا أونلاين بالحديث في المرحلة الأولى عن بعض منتجات Google التي تساعد المستخدم الجديد في عالم الإنترنت (متصفح الإنترنت ، البحث ، البريد الالكتروني ،الدردشة، مشاركة المعلومات ، الخصوصية)، وسوف يتم إضافة المزيد من الإرشادات والنصائح والحلقات خلال الفترة القادمة ونحن نتطلع إلى آرائكم البناءة وأفكاركم حول هذه المبادرة.

Explore Google world with the family of Ahlan Online
Late last year I was attending one of the meetings of Google’s product marketing team and we started talking about the fact that a large percent of the Internet users in the Arab world are very young people. At that point one of our colleagues, Maya - Product Marketing Director at Google, proposed a great idea about launching an educational initiative for Internet beginners all over the world with the purpose of getting them to know Google products better. Because the largest proportion of the beginners would naturally be young people, the best way to address them would be through series of cartoon illustrations.
We started discussing the idea on a larger scale till I became so excited about it because of the high potential that I saw in how it will help and educate the new users as well as guide them. I started implementing the idea supported by the team along with an Arab company specialized in cartoons, and over the past period the group worked on developing the plans and the vision for the suggested family. Then we discussed all the possible details and we enjoyed even choosing the finest details such as the names of the characters, and the topics that would interest the new user. And now after months of work, I am pleased to present to you the family of Ahlan Online:
Ahlan Online is a means of easy learning for the new users about the world of Google products through a series of short films with our friends; Mufid, Maher, Basma and Grandpa Hakim. We'll accompany you in a series of tours to learn the basic principles for using the Internet with the assistance of Google's products. In addition to this the website will provide detailed information on each topic with useful links for more information.
The family of Ahlan Online started at the first stage by talking about some of Google’s products that will help new user in the world of the Internet (web browser, search, e-mail, chat, sharing information, privacy). Still more tips, advice and episodes will be added during the coming period. We look forward to having your views and constructive ideas on this initiative.
