بعد إطلاق خدمة إجابات Google تابعنا باهتمام آراء المستخدمين في الخدمة واقتراحاتهم، وقد لاحظنا عددا كبيرا من المستخدمين يطالبون باستخدام حرف الـ J بدلا من حرف الـ G لتكتب الكلمة بالإنجليزية في العنوان Ejabat وليس Egabat.
وبالفعل كان هذه إحدى النقاط التي كانت تشغل اهتمام فريق عمل "إجابات Google" قبل انطلاق الخدمة وقد ارتيأنا استخدام كلمة egabat وذلك نظرا لأن حرف الـ G من الحروف الأكثر استخداما وبالتالي ستكون كتابة الإسم أكثر سهولة، ولكننا ما لبثنا أن عدلنا عن هذا القرار بعد ما لاحظناه من ردود أفعال المستخدمين.
وابتداء من اليوم سيكون النطاق الرسمي للموقع هو: http://ejabat.google.com وسيعمل النطاق http://egabat.google.com لفترة مؤقتة حتى يتم تحويله إلى النطاق الرسمي الجديد للموقع.
ونحن نسعد دائما بملاحظاتكم واقتراحاتكم، لأن هذه الخدمة موجهة لكم بالدرجة الأولى.

نحب بداية أن نعرفكم بأنفسنا: نهى سالم، محمد الضوي، وأوليفيير دي وولف ونحن ثلاثة من المهندسين في فريق Google العربي وكنا ضمن فريق العمل الخاص بإطلاق خدمة إجابات Google باللغة العربية.
منذ أسبوع ونحن نتابع يوميا إقبال المستخدمين العرب على خدمة إجابات Google والتي تم إطلاقها يوم التاسع من سبتمبر، وسررنا أشد السرور بسبب الإقبال على الخدمة من قبل مئات الآلاف من المستخدمين الذين زاروا الخدمة وسألوا عشرات الآلاف من الأسئلة وأضافوا مثلها من الإجابات. وهذا يزيد من حماسنا تجاه تطوير هذه الخدمة للأفضل خاصة وأنها لا تزال في مرحلتها التجريبية.
وقد لاحظ فريق Google العربي أن هناك عدد كبير من الأسئلة تصل يوميا لمحرك البحث يكتبها أصحابها كأنهم يتحدثون إلى أصدقائهم فنرى كلمات بحث مثل: "من هو مخترع التلسكوب؟" أو "ما هي طريقة طهي الكبسة؟" أو "من هو النادي الفائز بالدوري الإنجليزي عام 2004؟" أو "ما هو أفضل مطعم في مدينة فينيسا الإيطالية؟". والعديد من هذه الأسئلة وللأسف لا تحظى بنتائج بحث جيدة فهي إما معلومات غير دقيقة، أو يجب التسجيل والانضمام للموقع لقراءتها، أو غير موجودة في الأصل. أضف إلى ذلك تجربتنا الشخصية كمستخدمين حيث يرد إلى أذهاننا يوميا عشرات الأسئلة والتي قد يضيع الكثير من الوقت قبل أن نجد إجابات عنها.
ومنذ بضعة شهور قمنا بتكوين فريق عمل متكامل بسويسرا والصين ومصر والإمارات وإنجلترا وأمريكا لتطوير خدمة: "إجابات Google" وهي خدمة صمّمت خصّيصًا لمساعدة الناطقين باللغة العربية على الحصول على إجابات عن تساؤلاتهم اليومية من خلال واجهة استخدام سهلة ونظام يعتمد على الذكاء الاصطناعي، والتعرف على اهتمامات المستخدمين، بما يتيح للجميع الاستفادة وتبادل الثقافة والمعرفة. كما أن الخدمة تقوم على نظام السمعة (Reputation System) والذي يقوم بمنح نقاط للمستخدمين كلما قاموا بالإجابة عن سؤال أو تقييم إجابة كما يقوم بإظهار قائمة بأفضل عشرة مستخدمين في كل تصنيف من التصنيفات المتوفرة بالخدمة. ولعل أهم أهدافنا أن نصل إلى مستوى من الجودة بحيث يحصل كل شخص على إجابة مفيدة لتساؤله في أقل من دقيقة لنقدم خدمة تسهم في توفير الوقت لعشرات الملايين من المستخدمين العرب.

نبذة عن بعض مميزات خدمة: "إجابات Google":
- خاصية البحث وترتيب نتائج البحث حسب عدد الإجابات أو التاريخ.
- الفهرسة الآلية للأسئلة: في حالة كتابتك لأي سؤال يتم اقتراح تصنيفات متعلقة بهذا السؤال لتختارها بكل سهولة ويسر وذلك باستخدام تطبيقات الذكاء الاصطناعي.
- الإخطار عبر البريد الإلكتروني وإمكانية الاشتراك في أي تصنيف للحصول على آخر الأسئلة والإجابات المتعلقة بهذا التصنيف.

Launch of Ejabat Google
First of all, please allow us to introduce ourselves. We are Noha Salem, Mohamed Eldawy and Olivier De Wolf - three engineers in Google's Arabic Engineering team and members of the team that released one of Google's newest services in Arabia: Ejabat Google.
Since its launch day on September 9, 2009, we have been closely monitoring the daily demand on Ejabat Google by Arab users. And it thrilled us to see this service appealing to hundreds of thousands of users who visited the site and asked tens of thousands of questions and added many insightful answers. This encouraged us to keep improving it more and more - especially that it it is still in its beta phase.
Google's Arabic team noticed that there are a large number of question-like queries arriving via its search engine on a daily basis, formulated by their askers as if they were talking to their friends, for example: [Who invented the telescope?] or [Which football club won the English Champions League in 2004?] or even [What's the best restaurant in Venice, Italy?]. Unfortunately, many of these queries lead to poor results, or websites where you need to register and join to be able to access the content. In some cases, questions remained unanswered - let alone the bad user experience: having many questions on our minds every day would mean losing a lot of time before finding a satisfying answer for them!
A few months ago, we formed a full-scale distributed team between Switzerland, China, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, the UK and the US to develop Ejabat Google; a service specifically designed to help Arabic speaking web users finding answers ("ejabat") to their questions through an easy, user-friendly interface and a system based on artificial intelligence: recognizing their interests and allowing them to benefit and share knowledge and culture. Ejabat is also based on a Reputation System, which awards users reputation points whenever they answer or rate a question; it also provides its users with a list of 'expert-users' in each available category. Reaching a level of quality user experience, where 'askers' receive a useful answer to their questions within minutes has now become one of our main missions. This way we will be providing a valuable service which saves the time of millions of Arabic speaking users on the web.

- Searching questions and their answers and sorting the results by time, users or number of answers
- Automatic labeling of questions: while typing your questions, the system automatically suggests relevant labels to your question for you to choose among with least effort (using Artificial Intelligence)
- Notification through emails and the possibility of subscribing to any label to receive the latest questions and answers in your categories of interest

Google News is fluent in Arabic !
We're delighted to announce the launch of four new Arabic editions of Google News for Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Users in these countries can now access Google News editions specific to their country and get the latest headlines in topics such as Politics, Business, Sports, Entertainment and more.
With more than 24 million Arabic-speaking internet users in those countries and 40 million across the Middle East and North Africa, we understand the need to provide our users with the most relevant news for their region. Like all Google News editions, our computer-generated Arabic editions aggregate headlines from thousands of news outlets around the world, group similar stories together and link directly to the original sources that publish these stories. This enables users to search for topics they're interested in, and read a wide variety of perspectives from different sources. It also enables publishers to expand their reach to a wider audience, thus increasing traffic to their site.
