كما تعلمون، فإن مهمتنا هي تنظيم كافة المعلومات في العالم وجعلها مفيدة وفي متناول الجميع. وكما تعلمون أيضا، فإن لدينا العديد من المستخدمين من مختلف أنحاء العالم ولكن لسوء الحظ فإن المعلومات التي يبحثون عنها لا تتوفر دائما في لغتهم الأم. ولهذا فقد قرر مطورينا منذ فترة أن يجمعوا بين خاصية ترجمة Google وخاصية البحث مما يعني ميلاد خاصية جديدة ألا وهي: "البحث مع الترجمة" أو (استرجاع المعلومات المتعدد اللغات).
هذه الخاصية مفيدة وهامة جدا لكل متحدثي اللغة العربية نظرا لقلة المحتوى الرقمي ومحتوى الانترنت بهذه اللغة. وخذوا صديقي كمثال، فقد كان يقوم ببحث عن افتتاح دار الأوبرا في سيدني، ولم يتمكن من العثور على الكثير من المعلومات حول هذا الموضوع باللغة العربية. أما مع خاصية البحث مع الترجمة فقد ثبت أنها مفيدة جدا في هذه الحالة حيث أخذت الخاصية طلب بحث صديقي وترجمته إلى الإنجليزية، ثم بحثت في الشبكة كلها عن هذا الموضوع بعد أن أصبح بالإنجليزية، ثم قامت بترجمة جميع النتائج أوتوماتيكيا إلى اللغة العربية.

هذه الميزة تُستخدم أيضا في بحث Google. فعندما يرى النظام أن نتائج البحث المترجمة ستكون إضافة مفيدة لطلب البحث المطروح، سيظهر لك تلقائياً رابط يؤدي إلى النتائج المترجمة ويكون هذا الرابط في أسفل صفحة النتائج، فمثلا إذا أدخلت طلب بحث [افتتاح دار الأوبرا في سيدني]، ستتمكن من استخدام هذا الرابط :
أما مؤخرا فقد قمنا بتغيير النظام بحيث أنك لن ترى فقط الرابط المؤدي إلى النتائج المترجمة ولكنك سترى أيضا اثنين من نتائج العناوين المترجمة، والمثال موضح أدناه:
بالرغم من أن الترجمة الآلية ليست ذات كفاءة عالية بعد، إلا أنه عادة ما يكون مفيدا لك أن تحصل و لو على فحوى المعلومات من لغة قد لا تكون قادرا على قراءتها. إتاحة الفرصة للاستفادة من موارد المعرفة في لغات أخرى هي أحد الطرق التي تمكننا من التغلب على قلة المحتوى المتاح باللغة العربية على شبكة الإنترنت. والآن جرب بنفسك!
Translated Search (Search with Translate)
As you probably know, our mission is to organize all the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. We have users from around the globe and the information they are looking for is unfortunately not always available in their native language. Therefore, some time ago, our developers have decided to combine Google Translate with the search, and as a result "Search with Translation" feature (Cross Language Information Retrieval) was born.
This feature is particularly useful and important for the Arabic-speaking world, where online and digital content is limited. Take my friend, for example, who was researching the Sydney Opera House opening and was unable to find a lot of information about the subject in the Arabic language. The Search with Translation feature proved to be very helpful in this case, it took my friend's query and translated it into English, searched the web for the newly translated English query and then offered automatic machine-translation of the results back to Arabic.

This feature is also used in the Google search itself. When our system finds that the translated search results for your query may be a good addition to the received results, we show a link leading to the translated results at the bottom of the results page. Having entered query [إفتتاح دار الأوبرا في سيدني], you'll be able to use this link:
And just recently we've changed the system so that for some queries you will see not just the link to the translated results but you'll see a couple of translated result titles, see for yourself:
While machine translation is not yet perfect, it's usually good enough for you to obtain the gist of information in a language you might otherwise be unable to read. Opening up the opportunities for you to tap into knowledge resources in other languages is one way we can try to overcome the challenge of low content in Arabic on the web. Now try it for yourself!
